Government schools need better infrastructure

MAPUSA: Stating that parents were the first persons to make a choice on their child s education, former advisor on education reforms, Delhi government, Atishi, said there is a need to improve infrastructure in government schools as today, parents are sending their children to these schools only because they have no choice as they cannot afford to pay the high fees charged by private schools.

She was speaking at a symposium, future of India through education , organized by the Aam Admi Party in collaboration with JCI, Mapusa, at the Bodgeshwar devasthan hall in Mapusa on Tuesday. She spoke about how government schools were transformed in Delhi through modern centres of learning with all facilities of private schools. In 2015, when AAP formed the government in Delhi, one of our core agendas was to improve the quality of education in government schools as the country s future depends on children, she said. Educationist Prabhakar Timble, who was also present at the meet said that unless youth and children in India have access to good quality primary education, the country will face a major problem in future.
